The people from Sarajevo are really proud of the fact that the band Hari Mata Hari with Lejla won 3rd place in the Eurovision song contest 2006. (In my opinion, they could have got 2nd. Blame the break up of the former Soviet Union. Read my analysis of the voting breakdown.)

The band is also from Sarajevo.

Watch their performance at the above-said contest.

Or you can watch the original music video. The background scenery is Mostar.

NIZ POLJE VJETAR MIRIS(E
I BOL ME PRATI KAO SJENA
DAL NEGDJE ZA MNOM UZDIS(ES(
GDJE SI OD MENE SAKRIVENA

U KOSU STAVI RUZMARIN
I JEDAN CVIJET KRAJ S(ADRVANA
LEJLA

ZAR BI MOGLA TI DRUGOG VOLJETI

AKO TE SUTRA ZAPROSE
ZNAJ TAMO NEC'U BITI JA
LAKO SE TUGE OPROSTE
AL SAMO LJUBAV NIKADA

ZAR BI MOGLA TI DRUGOG VOLJETI

GOLUBE, MOJ GOLUBE
NOSI JOJ SUZE MJESTO PJESME

JA ODLAZIM KO DA SAM KRIV
S(TO VOLJEH ONU KOJU NE SMIJEM

GOLUBE, MOJ GOLUBE
NOSI JOJ SUZE MJESTO PJESME

ODLAZIM KO DA SAM KRIV
S(TO VOLJEH TEBE KOJU NE SMIJEM

S(TO VOLJEH TEBE
LEJLA

English translation:
LAYLA

Wind rolls down the meadow,
Pain follows me like a shadow,
Do you still long for me,
Where have you gone, oh, sorrow.

Rosemary in your hair,
And a flower by the fountain,
Layla.

How could you ever love another.

My dove, lovely dove,
Not a song, bring her my tears.

When they ask for your hand,
My love, I won't be there,
Sorrow is easy to forgive.
But love is not forgiven, ever.

How could you ever love another.

My dove, lovely dove,
Not a song, bring her my tears.

Now I go, for I have loved,
The one who could never be mine.

My dove, lovely dove,
Not a song, bring her my tears.

Now I go, for I have loved,
The one who could never be mine.

Why did I love you,
Layla.
